Genomic Medicine participates in the BASTION (From Basic to Translational Research in Oncology) Project. The purpose of the BASTION project is to strengthen research potential of the Medical University of Warsaw (MUW) in the field of basic and translational oncology. The project is funded by the European Commission within its Seventh Framework Programme 7.PR -REGPOT -2012-2013.

The goal of BASTION is to build an experimental oncology platform supporting MUW’s clinical hospitals, incorporating novel research techniques to improve the understanding of carcinogenesis and tumour progression leading to development of new therapeutic and diagnostic tools.

Within the Bastion project, the Laboratory of Genomic Medicine organized the Cancer Genetics for Medical Community conference that was held at the Medical University of Warsaw on June 17, 2013. Keynote speakers of the conference included Professor Clara D. Bloomfield, Professor Albert de la Chapelle, Doctor Krzysztof Mrózek from The Ohio State University, Columbus, and Professor Jolanta Kupryjańczyk from The Maria Sklodowska-Curie Institute of Oncology in Warsaw.

We would like to kindly thank all the speakers and participants for the attendance.
